- What is Encourage Learning?
Encourage Learning is an after school tutoring center located in Chino Hills. We provide in person tutoring in a study hall type of setting.
2. Can you tutor my 6th grader in math?
Yes, we tutor students from 1st grade through 12th grade in math and language arts. Our tutors are professionally trained and highly qualified to instruct math, reading comprehension and writing strategies.
3. How much does it cost for tutoring?
We have various tutoring plans to accommodate the different needs of students. We have one-on-one tutoring that starts from $20 to $30 per half hour, monthly plans that start from $200 – $325. We have no long-term contract and you only pay as you go.
4. Do you offer one-on-one tutoring?
Yes, we offer one-on-one tutoring, individual homework support and small group instruction. We create customized tutoring plans for each student and continually assess their progress so that we can effectively tailor their tutoring programs to yield the highest results.
5. How do I get started?
First, your child will need to take the grade appropriate assessment either via our website or come in Encourage Learning in person. First or second grade students need to come in for in-person assessment. Your child’s assessment results will help us determine his academic strengths as well as the concepts and skills that he needs to improve on. Lastly, we will have a free in-person consultation with you and your child so that we can put together a customized tutoring plan.
6. What makes a successful tutoring program?
According to EdResearch, tutoring is most likely to be effective when delivered in high doses. An hour of tutoring at least 3 times a week for at least 16 weeks yields the largest result. Tutoring should be provided in-person whenever safe and possible.
7. What kind of curriculum do you follow?
Our tutoring materials are aligned with the Chino Hills curriculum and we support lessons taught in the classroom.
8. How do you implement individual homework support and small group instruction?
Together with your student, we will work on a few homework questions that would give them enough understanding to do the rest of their homework independently. If they come upon a stumbling block, we will work out additional similar problems with them and encourage them to look up text in their books that will help in their understanding. Our goal is to help your child learn how to work independently. Our small group instruction is customized so that we can still provide individualized instruction.
